What does a UniFi WiFi 7 access point installation include?
A business UniFi WiFi install is a design, cabling, mounting and configuration job, not just hanging hardware. Every UniFi access point is PoE powered and adopted into one UniFi console, and Ubiquiti sells them with no per-AP license.
The access points are the visible part. What decides whether scanners drop in aisle 14 is the design behind them: where each AP sits, which channels and power levels it uses, how many clients share it, and whether the switch feeding it has enough power. Ubiquiti's own positioning is "Simple, License-Free Networking", which is true of the hardware; the design and support are where a local installer earns its keep.

Which UniFi WiFi 7 access point should a business buy?
For most offices the U7 Pro is the default: tri-band WiFi 7 with 6 GHz, a 2.5 GbE uplink and 300+ clients per AP. Step up to the U7 Pro Max or U7 Pro XGS for dense rooms, the U7 Outdoor for docks and yards, and the E7 Campus where you need an IP67-capable enterprise AP.

Vendor client counts and coverage areas are open-space maximums from Ubiquiti tech specs, not what you will see behind a row of pallet racking. Use them to compare models, not to count APs.

How many UniFi access points does a warehouse or plant floor need?
There is no honest square-foot formula: a U7 Pro is rated for up to 1,500 sq ft in open space, but full-height racking, metal stock, liquids and coolers cut real coverage sharply. PDC designs from your floor plan and racking layout, then validates on site after install.
In North Carolina plants and distribution centers the usual problems are the same: APs mounted too high on 30-foot ceilings, APs above the racks instead of down the aisles, and handheld scanners roaming badly between APs that are too loud. PoE is the other half of the count. A U7 Pro draws up to 21W, a U7 Pro Max 25W, a U7 Pro XGS 29W and an E7 Campus 44W, per Ubiquiti. A Standard 24 PoE switch has a 95W total budget, so it can run only three U7 Pro Max APs at full draw; a Pro Max 24 PoE switch has 400W. We size the switch before we order the APs.
- Check your handheld scanners, printers and vehicle terminals: many older industrial devices support only 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, so 6 GHz helps laptops and phones but not every scanner.
- Outdoor yards and docks need weather-rated APs (IPX6 on the U7 Outdoor) and grounding, not an indoor AP pointed out a window.
- Freezers, coolers and metal-walled rooms usually need their own AP inside the space.
Is WiFi 7 and 6 GHz worth it for a business network?
Usually yes for new installs, because the price gap is small: the tri-band U7 Pro lists from $189 against $99 for the dual-band U7 Lite (US store, observed Sep 2026, subject to change). The 6 GHz band adds a large block of clean spectrum that newer laptops and phones can use.
The FCC opened 1,200 megahertz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band (5.925 to 7.125 GHz) for unlicensed use, per the FCC. That is why tri-band APs help crowded offices and conference rooms: capable clients move to 6 GHz and leave 2.4 and 5 GHz to older devices.
Where WiFi 7 matters less is a plant floor full of older scanners. There, AP placement, channel planning and roaming settings do more than a newer radio. We will tell you which one your budget should go to.
Does UniFi WiFi require a license or subscription?
No. UniFi access points are managed from your UniFi console with no per-AP license, and remote management through Site Manager is free. Your ongoing costs are hardware refresh, optional extended warranty and whatever support you choose.
One detail worth knowing: Ubiquiti's limited warranty runs two years from delivery when bought direct from the Ubiquiti web store, and one year from shipment when bought through authorized distributors and resellers. PDC states the warranty terms in every written quote.

How do you keep a UniFi wireless network secure?
Separate networks for staff, guests, scanners and machines, WPA3 where devices support it, and disciplined firmware management. In June 2026 CISA added three UniFi OS vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, including CVE-2026-34908, which is why update management is part of every PDC install.

How much coverage does one UniFi U7 Pro provide?
Ubiquiti rates the U7 Pro for up to 140 m2 (about 1,500 sq ft) and 300+ clients in open space. Real coverage in a warehouse with racking or a plant with metal equipment is lower, which is why PDC designs and validates rather than dividing square footage.
What is the difference between the U7 Pro and U7 Pro Max?
Both are tri-band WiFi 7 with 6 GHz and a 2.5 GbE uplink. The U7 Pro Max adds a 4x4 5 GHz radio (8.6 Gbps), real-time spectral analysis and a 500+ client rating, and draws up to 25W versus 21W. It suits dense rooms; the U7 Pro suits most general areas.
Do UniFi access points need a separate power supply?
No, UniFi access points are powered over Ethernet from a PoE switch or injector. Check the PoE class: the U7 Pro needs PoE+, the U7 Pro XGS and E7 Campus need PoE++, and the total switch budget must cover every AP.
Can UniFi WiFi work outdoors in a truck yard?
Yes. The U7 Outdoor is IPX6 rated with up to 5,000 sq ft vendor coverage, and the E7 Campus is IPX6, or IP67 with its included door kit. Outdoor APs also need proper mounting, grounding and a cable path, which PDC plans during the site survey.
Can you reuse our existing cabling for new UniFi access points?
Often, if the runs test cleanly and the jack is where the AP needs to be. Ceiling locations chosen for an older design are frequently in the wrong place for a new one, so PDC tests existing runs and quotes new drops only where the design requires them.
